what is role playing?

You probably already know what it is if you managed to find us. However, that doesn't mean it's self explanatory. Role playing, in Surreal*Twilight's case, is a form of writing where two or more people generate a written story together. Generally, players only write from the viewpoints of their own characters and their partners do the same. The plot is often worked out between all the players, and together they create a "round robin" sort of story.

what makes surreal*twilight different?

Unlike many other forums on the internet, here at Surreal*Twilight we expect, enforce, and encourage a minimum quality of writing. We realize that finding a group of role players on the internet that are grammatically coherent can be hard to come by. We're here to offer you that option. However, we strive to be as accessible as possible. Our standards are never high enough to deny many the opportunity to participate on the forums.

We also find it incredibly important to help those in need. If you wish to polish your writing skills, we have a special group of people called Kindly Scholars who are more than willing to help you. Our forum is here for your use, and we want to make sure you can use it. Take Surreal*Twilight as a unique learning experience, and become the writer you've always wanted to be.

the s*t standard

All role play posts must be a minimum of ten vertical lines long--not including blank lines; there is no maximum. In addition to this, all posts are expected to have near-perfect grammar, spelling and punctuation.

As a rule of thumb, you should control only your characters unless you get permission from your RP partners to control theirs. It's also important to remember that godmodding, Mary Sueing, etc. are tactics that may upset your RP partners. If you're experiencing problems with these situations, please contact a Role Play Moderator.
