what is the grading system?

Here at Surreal*Twilight, we take role playing pretty seriously. In order to participate in the main forums, you need to prove you are capable of meeting our writing standards. We've come up with a grading system that separates Students from the Graduate role playing forums. Graduates get all the special perks and are allowed access to most of Surreal*Twilight's forums. For grading, we don't ask for much, but we do ask that what simple guidelines we provide are adhered to by you at all times. If you are having any issues with meeting the standards, please contact a Kindly Scholar for assistance.

The grading process works on a letter grading system of 100 points. It is split into five categories, all of which account for every aspect of your role playing skills. We have it split so you can receive the best constructive feedback on your writing so you can improve further in the Graduate section. There's always room for improvement, no matter how good you are!

what you need to do

Before you even try to get graded, you need four role play posts that meet the role play rule guidelines. Any posts that fall under the size requirement of ten vertical lines are automatically disqualified. Role play posts from other forums, chats, etc. are not acceptable.

It's a good idea to go back and look over your posts to check for spelling, grammar, OOC tags, and other errors that may deduct a decent amount of points from your grade. Proof reading is a good habit to get into for any future posts.

the grading system

Once you have four role play posts (of a minimum 10 lines in length each), you may ask to test into Graduate status. Here, you will post links to where your four role play posts are located. Over the course of a couple of days (it will never take longer than a week), the Kindly Scholars will begin to edit their grades into your application.
Please don't write comments to the Scholars in your application! Send any questions to them through Private Messages.

C and above is equivalent to ACCEPTED, C- and below is equivalent to DECLINED.

Grammar (35 points): How is the grammar? Is the post in one tense? Are there a lot of run-ons, fragments, comma splices, etc.? How is the dialogue formatted? Each error deducts half a point. We will not nitpick every error, however, just ones that are very noticeable.

Spelling (10 Points): Are there frequent misspellings that could easily be fixed by copying it into a spell checker?
10 line minimum gets 7 points automatically.

Presentation (10 points): Is there a lot of OOC discussion in RP posts? Are there proper paragraph spacing?
Each error deducts half a point. We will not nitpick every error, however, just ones that are very noticeable.

Description (35 points): Is the writing content good and does it follow the story coherently? Does there need to be more descriptions of character, etc.?
